Last night was guild night, and our speaker was the prolific and fascinating former editor of Quilt Magazine, Jean Ann Wright. After editing the magazine for twenty years, Jean Ann decided to let her inner art quilter come out. She spends her "retirement" traveling and designing quilts for various fabric lines and quilt magazines, editing books and working on her own.
She brought buckets and bins and totes full of beautiful quilts to share and as many stories to tell...from sewing in the garret of a 500 year old English house to having dinner with the chair of the World Bank!
This is one of the Trash to Treasures Pineapple Quilts she helped inspire with her "Sourdough Quilts" scrap method:
While Jean Ann was sharing her latest adventure, a quilt book called Circle of Nine, I had an epiphany. You know the sailboat quilt I'm trying to sketch? The setting solution featured in this quilt solved my problems! I can't wait to see the book. You can pre-order it on Amazon. I think it comes out in November.
I also want to give a big shout out to Jenna a SwapDex for adding the Blogtoberfest Postcard Swap to her site. If you are a swap addict or a newbie wanting to try one out, this is the resource to help you find exactly what you're looking for. And if you're a blogger trying to spread the word about your own swap, here's your megaphone! She's also looking for experienced swap leaders to interview about the dos and don'ts of hosting a swap.
Don't forget to email me and let me know how many postcards you want to swap! jenggreer at symbol gmail dot com.
