#MachineQuiltingBlogHop Week 1 - Plumb Lines

Welcome to Week 1 of the Machine Quilting Blog Hop

Today we are working on Chapter 1 of The Ultimate Guide to Machine Quilting by Angela Walters and Christa Watson, Plumb Lines.

While I'm working to improve my machine quilting skills, I thought I'd practice on some of my many UFOs. Let's start with one that:
  1. I didn't make or pay for. I won it at a guild Christmas party so many years ago I can't even come up with a good guess.
  2. is on the small side. At about 22" square, it's easy to maneuver and won't take long to finish.
  3. I don't particularly love. Not that I hate it, but if it turns out just awful, I won't feel bad about making it a pet bed. No ripping stitches out on this one!

I stitched in the ditch and took advantage of the lines in the block to practice some of the techniques for this chapter.

Trust me, they are far from perfect (see that wonky corner there?), but I'm pretty happy with these to begin with. I love the texture created by quilting in places I would normally not bother with.

I hope you join us by sewing a few plumb lines of your own and using the hashtag #machinequiltingbloghop on your favorite social media channel!
