WiP Wednesday - Spider Webs and Butterflies

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I'm linking up with WiP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.

I made some progress on my spider web blocks last week, although I didn't keep the pace I had hoped.  I'm down to 20 wedges - that's five days' worth for those of you keeping score at home - and I'm bound and determined to get them done before next week's WiP Wednesday.

The weekend was all about preparing for our Easter Sunrise breakfast, and evenings after work this week have been dedicated to updating a few bits of the program I'm giving tomorrow at the East Cobb Quilt Guild meeting . I'm a little nervous for a mixed up bunch of reasons - there will be a whole lot of strangers there, but also a few people I know. Does that make any sense?

It's interesting to see how much each social media platform has changed in less than a year. As I look through my screen shots and video clips from last June, I realize how often these sites move things around.
I've also changed. Twitter is still my personal favorite, but I'm using Facebook less and less, and have finally succumbed to the pull of Instagram

What channel are you using now that you weren't a year ago? Is there one you've mostly abandoned? And last, as a quilter, if you had to pick just one, which one would it be?

  1. Hi Jenny Good to see you are making some progress even if its not as much as you would like. I am using Twitter now much more than I used to thanks to various pod casters being on there and then me making my own links. I am also blogging which I wasn't doing regularly till this year... one of my new years resolutions. So Im doing WIP Weds and stash reports etc. Much more active on the net than I used to be. I want to learn how to do these spider web thingies you talk about. Do you have a link to where I can learn about them?

    1. Here you go! It's a Bonnie Hunter class that I took, but the instructions are pretty clear. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/string-spider-web.html

  2. Fear not, I will do my best to make goofy faces at you while you present! Also, I usually sit in the front, so it'll be Extra Awesome!

    1. Great presentation last night to East Cobb Quilt Guild Evening meeting! Everyone had enjoyed it, had fun, and learned a lot! If you were nervous, it didn't show.

@Pam - I couldn't see your goofy faces from my vantage point, but thanks for your efforts! :)

  3. Hope Pam did her job as official Goofinator and helped to make you more at ease. ;-)

I am also using Facebook less. I finally figured out Instagram - at least enough to post photos. I don't do much because there seems to be a weird size issue with posting. I am liking Twitter more, but I think that is because of people like you. ;-) I am not a big fan of the interface changes, though and find it hard to follow a conversation sometimes.

Good job on the Spiderweb. Keep up the good work!

  4. I would say Twitter is the first place I go. I am on Facebook and Google + some. I tried Instagram some time ago and really didn't like it.

I am sure your presentation will be great, though I understand your dislike of talking in front of strangers.
