Today I'm featuring two quilts that I made after taking a class (I think it was at Tiny Stitches). We used this book for guidance:
The technique is so simple but striking, and the design choices are endless. In fact, I'll have to show you another quilt next week that used this fusible bias tape in a slightly different way. Remind me.
I made this quilt for our bedroom in the class, and immediately realized how I would do it better the second time. I decided to make a second quilt and give it to Gram for Christmas that year. She was living in an assisted living facility, and I thought it would be a wonderful way to brighten her room.

I'm normally very generous and give away most of my quilts, but this one isn't begging to go live in Colorado. What's that about, do you think?

Sounds like you need to make a few more! :) They are really cool. I have a stained glass project that has been floating around in my brain for a few years now. I should probably learn how to do it.
ReplyDeleteI really both of them and until you are ready to part with one or both, I would hang onto them. If you change your mind later, then go for it.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I wouldn't be able to give away the one you made for your Gram. If your cousin likes it for its design, then I'm sure she would love the other one you made, but if she wants it for sentimental reasons, then she might not want the other one you made. Either way, keep the one you gave your Gram.
ReplyDeleteI know there are a couple of gifts that I gave my uncle and my grandmother before they died, and I wanted those gifts back after they died, and I didn't even make them. I think it is just special to have something that the two of you shared.
