#FMQF - Free Motion Quilting Friday

Free Motion Quilting Friday

Today is Free Motion Quilting Friday over at Leah Day's Free Motion Quilting Project.

The rules are simple:
  1. Link up with a post that features something about Free Motion Quilting (FMQ).
  2. Somewhere in your post, you must link back here, or you can just post the FMQF button in your sidebar.
  3. Comment on at least a few of the other FMQF links. Share your love of free motion quilting and make this weekly link up a fun way to connect!
This week I went back and finished up the FMQ on one of the old Modern Blocks from last year.  I decided that these 12" blocks are the perfect way to practice my free motion quilting instead of just using muslin quilt sandwiches.

This was the first one, and I decided to turn it into a little pillow for the bench by the front door.  It looks so spring-y, doesn't it?

I didn't use any specific design, but just added leaf shapes to the outside and a viny, veiny looking thing in the middle.

It was quilted with the green thread that kept giving me problems on Twin Engine but there wasn't a single hitch.  More proof that it was not the thread, but possibly the spray baste and/or the feed dogs being down.

What are you quilting this week?

  1. Omgosh this is GORGEOUS! I love it. I badly want to make some pillows but I get confused as to what size to make them... oh well.

I love the leaf and I really love your FMQ, I hope that my FMQ is that good some day!

    1. I am math challenged as well sometimes so solved this problem by stuffing it with fiber fill instead of using a pillow form. LOL!

  4. Lovely cushion. I really like the organic look of the vines inside the big leaf.

  5. Love your use of different threads. I have to get away from just using matching thread to the fabric. Thanks for sharing.
